I happen to use all these on my MacBook as well. Wouldn’t recommend something I wouldn’t use, so yeah lets get ahead, with these apps, and their individual features.

1. Firefox – Love safari? Me too, too bad it’s not useable for anything beyond casual surfing. Don’t worry, there’s firefox available for your Mac, if you already were not aware. With the plethora of extensions available, this is the must have browser, for your net.. err.. macbook.

2. Adium – iChat is a joke. Get this swiss army knife of IM’ing on Mac. Get it, already.

3. Postbox – For some reason, Apple’s default Mail client, incidentally titled as Mail itself, and referred to as Mail.app, has stopped working for me in a week or two, with over a dozen of issues it has with my Pop 3 account. Postbox is the best alternative, that was released recently and hailed all over by the Mac community.

It’s a polished version of Mozilla’s very popular mail client titled Thunderbird. Thunderbird isn’t that bad either, and just in case you want to get your hands on it, here’s it.

4. Times – Times isn’t essentially the missing RSS reader for Mac, because that would be NetNewsWire (NNW). But Times really gels with the whole Mac culture, a very simple and minimal layout make sure, you’re ready to hit it off. And don’t forget those tech feeds that come pre-installed. It’s lovely I tell you. The $30 price tag is justified or not is a matter of great discussion, and for the doubtful, there’s always Newsfire.

5. Blogo – If Apple ever decided to make a blogging client, this be it. Blogo works perfectly with Wordpress 2.9. That’s what you’re going to use it anyway. No? It works with Blogger and TypePad as well, among others. With image editing capabilities, and a unified interface, it scores over MarsEdit, and murders Ecto. It’s one app that’s worth its price tag to the T, $25.

Anyway I’m sure they’re going to make it look cool, once the official reports and announcements start forming up.

Apple ethusiasts all over believe that Apple is going to announce iSlate on Jan 26, next year. Apple is reported to have scheduled a

media event in San Francisco

, and the press all over has shown hints at this being the launch day of the Apple Tablet.

The tablet’s name iSlate hints at it being more of an upgraded ipod decide, than a downgraded Mac machine. Which further hints at use of an ARM processor, and another variant of the striped down Mac OSX operating system.

It’s a computer system with Mac OS, but not necessarily Apple hardware. Enough babbling, lets get to work now.

Recommended hardware

RAM – 4GB Corsair Dominator 1066 Mhz (Or anything above) – Rs. 8000

Hard Disk Drive – Minimum 250GB Western Digital – Rs. 2500

Rest of the hardware could be of your choice. You could buy Apple keyboard and Apple Mouse from Apple India store for Rs. 2400 and Rs 2200 respectively though. Your Logitech Mouse/Keyboard kit would work great anyway.

For display you could either just plug in your Samsung LCD or shell out some 32k to buy the Apple Cinema Display 20″ from the Apple Store.

We recommend buying at least a 20″ display, since anything less cripples the way Macs work.

Software

Now comes the task of getting hold of the Mac OS DVD, first you have to decide if you want to go for the tried and tested Mac Operating System leopard, or you want to take a dive into the newly launched Snow Leopard. We recommend staying with Leopard for a while, but you can switch to Snow anytime you wish, or switchback as well, since your hardware is going to support both of them.

Bollywood can’t seem to get over its hangover of The Singh just yet. Lets take a look at all the B-Town A listers who are following the trend and going the Punjabi way.

The motoring giant has announced that it’s going to launch the 3.0L diesel engine powered Fortuner SUV in India, somewhere around September. The price is going to be set somewhere around 20 lakh. The SUV is going to compete with Honda’s CRV, Ford’s Endeavour, and Mitsubishi’s Pajero, and the recently launched Nissan X-Trail.

The SUV is going to be manufactured at the Toyota Kirloskar factory at Bidadi near Bangalore.

Honda is all set to launch the Honda Accord V6 in India, yes it’s a bad time, but the price isn’t for this monster. The V6 model boosts of a 3.5L engine compared to 2.4L of the standard one, and a mighty boost of over 80hp so to speak.

The price is going to be around 20 lakhs that is just 1.5 lakhs over the standard Accord, a steal isn’t it? But then if you’re a back seat driver how do you really care about anything above 150hp?

Honda is going to detune the engine slightly to cope with Indian Fuel Standards though, but that shouldn’t worry you so much.

The car would be launched next month nationwide.
